Joey Ancona Racing Follows Stellar CA Speedweek Bid with Second Place at Dixon_Speedway!

Dixon, CA | July 20, 2016 – Fresh off of impressive, yet heartbreaking second place finish in the California Speedweek, Joey Ancona returned to the Dixon Speedway on Saturday night to get his racing fix for the weekend. Following last week’s win with the California Speedweek series at Dixon, the Ancona Motorsports team entered Saturday’s weekly show as the USAC National Micro Series point leader. Using a heat race victory to line himself up in a decent spot for the main event, Ancona ensued to wheel his Dyrco Construction, Pace Chassis, Factory Kahne No. 88 to a strong second place finish!
Opening the night with a third place qualifying run at 11.467 seconds, Ancona backed that up with a dominating heat race victory. Earning a spot in the six-lap dash, the 11-year old wheelman scored a fourth place finish to claim the outside of the second row as his starting spot in the feature.
Running consistently in fifth for much of the race, Ancona used a late-race caution to storm his Hamblin Motorsport powered No. 88 into second spot with only three to go. Working furiously to try and track down the race leader, Ancona would unfortunately run out of laps as he crossed the finish line with a still-strong second place run.
Returning to Lemoore Raceway on Saturday night, the Ancona Motorsports will attempt to continue their incredible 2016 season that already included a whopping seven wins!
